Monday’s city council meeting in Leominster saw five petitions for permits to open medical marijuana facilities; the most the council has received at one time. Representatives from three of the applicants, Prime Wellness Centers, CommCan Inc. and Alternative Therapies Group Inc.,  spoke at the meeting as well. The representatives acknowledged the economic and monetary impact of receiving a petition for their company.

A resolution also came before the council that would establish the criteria the council would use to determine what applicants are granted petition. The resolution would also limit the number of dispensaries that could be opened in Leominster to two.
